THE PORTUGUESE GOLDEN VISA

The Portugal Residence Permit for Investment Activity, also known as a Portugal Golden Visa, is a five-year residence by investment program for non-EU nationals.

Portugal is a full member of the EU. The residence permit allows visa free access to Europe’s Schengen Area, access to the Portuguese healthcare system, access to Portuguese universities and educational institute and requires an average stay of just seven days a year in Portugal over the five-year period.

After five years of such residency, it’s possible to apply for Portuguese citizenship, which allows you to obtain an
EU passport and thereby permanent, unlimited access to Europe. Investors need to hold their investment until their citizenship (or permanent residency, if that is the goal) has been approved.
